“silence”
hidden
carefully
between the lines
your cry for help
signs of s.o.s.
calling out to anyone who’d hear
i reach for an answer
while my words echo back
as i realise how easy it is for me to speak
yet i share my thoughts and my story
in hope of better times for you to come
still it remains too hard for you to choose for freedom
and at this moment i can only wait
for you have decided that the safety of this prison, as it appears,
may be more reliable than your own strength
and the lies that they have told you
are the bars that i alone cannot break
it’s your permission only by which they can come to fall
it’s kept you down for so long
and i keep seeing the strong and fragile child that you are
so precious and so pure, after all these years of cruell abuse
i hear your cry
and wait for it to break the silence
that you’ve decided to keep
