Lisette,
I’ve created you with a forgetful mind
Amnesia and voices inside your head
Now your psychologist saw through you
And diagnosed you with DID
That’s what my book is all about
You don’t understand it
But all the pieces of your scattered life
Seemed to fit in her description
And now I want you to doubt it all
To rather think you’re crazy
Than to believe that you really suffered
But this is something that I have never experienced
I make you go through it for the sake of others with DID
So that they might understand themselves a little bit better
But then first I need to understand
So please tell me
Why you feel this way
Why can’t you accept what is so obvious
Can’t you really hear the voices inside your head?
What is it that makes you doubt
What I can only see as a precious gift to survive?
Please help me live through this
I’m doing this for them
Those who read and will understand
That they’re not crazy
Or that their friends with DID suffer every day
But struggle for a better life
I’ve found that better life now and Lisette,
I promise to let you find it, too
